Photo Galleries - My Ike Photos
These are my photos of the aftermath of Hurricane Ike around my house. Mostly just broken tree limbs - nothing too severe.
Not too much debris down in the back, and luckily the entire fence held up - it was only 4 years old at the time of the storm.
Another view of the back yard - the section of yard behind the garage. Again, nothing major.
Here's a shot of my weather station sensor suite. It did a great job of recording barometric pressure and rainfall amounts, but because of its lack of height and proximity to structures, it didn't record wind speeds as accurately as I'd hoped.
Again, luckily no damage - and you can see we had the decks clear to minimize flying debris.
Interesting to see the leaves splattered against the siding on the back of the garage (it faces north). Also, the gutter piece you see missing there had been missing for quite some time, so it was not lost in the storm.
It was crazy to see the wind-splattered leaf debris stuck to everything. This door faces west, and that's direction from which we received the strongest wind after the eye had passed us to the north and east.
Here was our setup for the power outage. The big Briggs generator is seen in front, while the smaller Honda generators can be partially seein behind it (red boxes).
This is a shot of the main power cable from the Briggs generator entering the house. It was nice - a single cable to plug into the generator with 4 plugs on the other end to make it easier to plug things in inside (not as nice as a transfer switch, though). The breakfast room window happened to be the most convenient place to bring the power into the house.
