I'm super duper excited! I have signed a contract for a Generac 20 kW natural gas-fueled, whole-house automatic standby generator! Even though it is rated at 18 kW on natural gas, the unit is large enough to power everything in the house, including my two central air conditioners. I chose Quality Generators to do the installation, and they do everything: pour the concrete pad, install and hook up the generator - including the automatic transfer switch, and do run/load testing after the gas company plumbs everything into the gas meter. I'm expecting to have the unit in and functional by around the first of September. I'll be posting more updates and some of the blow-by-blow during and after installation, so be sure to stay tuned!
